The centre opened in 2003 and provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. The majority of my students live locally and attend local schools nearby.

Over the years, the Coventry East study centre has become an essential part of the community. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work. These skills will support children to easily grasp new topics in school and approach examinations such as SATs, GCSEs and their 11+ exam in the most effective and efficient ways.

How long does study take?

The time taken to complete a day's work may be around 30 minutes per subject. The study time is down to each individual and their current study level. Class times displayed may include a combination of in-centre and online class sessions. Please contact your Instructor for further details.

Enrolling my son at Kumon East is the best decision I have made in my son’s life, my son was lacking focus in class, he was not keeping up with his school and homework assignments. As a parent I made the decision to enroll him at Kumon for extra academic studies, and it really paid off. Two weeks after enrollment I already started noticing changes in his approach to school, and homework assignments, his school teacher also testified to the changes in improvement. Three and half years being enrolled in Kumon has paid off and yield dividends, my son just passed the illustrious 11,+ exams. Now my younger son is also enrolled and he's showing good signs of progress. I would like to thank Mira Wang for making our children future look promising! I also thank all the staff for their hard work that is making a difference in our community, indeed “ it takes a village to raise a child” to bring the best out for the future generations.

Kumon Coventry East has been a fantastic support for my daughter in both math and English. Since starting the program, I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in her confidence and skills in both subjects. The structured, incremental approach of Kumon has helped her build a solid foundation, especially in math where she’s developed stronger problem-solving skills and a greater comfort with numbers. In English, her reading comprehension and vocabulary have grown, and she’s more articulate in her writing. The program’s emphasis on independent learning has been a big plus, teaching her responsibility and discipline. Overall, Kumon has been a worthwhile investment in her education, providing the extra support she needed to excel. I want to share my experience with kumon at Alan Higgs centre . This is my 3 rd year in row with Dr Mira Wang and her team That’s was really great to get my daughter and my son on board with kumon . They have helped my daughter to get from below expected to higher than expected level in less than 3 years . There are very committed ,helpful and supportive . All my three children have been or are studying in the centre with Dr Wang. It has been a great experience and my children are making excellent progress in their maths and English subjects. It gives them the confidence at school to explore other subjects with great depth and the same hard working attitude. Dr Wang loves what she is doing and stretch to a great length to make sure my children understand what they are learning and make a good progress. The centre plays a key role in helping my eldest get a medicine school place and my daughter pass her 11 plus test with a high mark. 5 star workbook and 5 star service.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
