The Kumon Method of Learning offers much more than traditional tuition – it nurtures your child’s independence, helping them develop strong self-learning skills to give them the tools to excel in the future. Through daily study independently at home, or under our supervision at the study centre or online, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

At the Kumon Flackwell Heath Study Centre, we welcome students of all ages and abilities from Flackwell Heath and the surrounding areas. Following a free assessment, your child will begin the programmes at their own individually set starting point, laying a solid foundation for effective learning. Their progress through the programmes will be tailored to their individual needs, ensuring your child continues to grow and achieve.

Our staff have been fully trained to assist all students from early learners to GCSE students and we maintain a high staff to student ratio. This ensures all students get the support and guidance needed to ensure they are achieving their full potential.

The Kumon Flackwell Heath study centre is Ofsted Registered, reflecting the quality of care and support we give to the children who attend our classes and allowing parents to pay for tuition through either private childcare voucher schemes or through the government’s tax-free childcare scheme.

About the Instructor

Hello and welcome! My name is Humaira and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Flackwell Heath Study Centre. I have a great deal of experience in education, having worked as a maths teacher and as a Special Educational Needs (SEND) Private Tutor.

Serving as a Kumon Instructor gives me the unique opportunity to use my knowledge and skills from teaching, as well as the valuable life lessons I have gained from raising my own three children. I am committed to working in partnership with families as we strive to help children unlock and reach their full potential.

By developing invaluable study skills, your child will emerge as a confident, independent and self-motivated learner. I am extremely proud to be the Instructor at the Kumon Flackwell Heath Study Centre, a centre that has been thriving since it was established in 2007. I run the centre with care, dedication, commitment, and a desire to innovate. I look forward to working with you to support your child’s development as they begin their Kumon journey.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
