Welcome to the Kumon Arnold Study Centre.

Kumon study aims to ensure that every child develops a love for learning. The unique maths and English study programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Traditional tuition providers help students progress, but Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills and confidence, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher.

Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands with the belief that there is no limit to learning, irrespective of age or ability. We are here to guide, support and encourage every child develop to their full potential.

Students at the centre currently range in age from three to 17 years old and are of all abilities. Currently seven assistants work alongside the Instructor, to ensure all the students are fully supported whilst in the centre. The early learner area is led by trained staff who specialise in working with very young children and/or children with additional needs.

About the Instructor

My name is Bilquees Akbar and I am the Instructor at the Arnold Study Centre.

I have always had a passion for education and love to see children do well not only academically but also in personality, through encouragement and support. As a Kumon Instructor it is extremely rewarding being able to guide and motivate students reach their full potential and seeing their confidence grow throughout their Kumon journey.

My role as a Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies and more importantly to believe in themselves. It’s truly fascinating to see how their eyes light up when they complete their work, after learning something new, or when they tackle a difficult task on their own!

I have seen many children, including my own son achieve incredible results with Kumon, accomplishments which are far beyond what is expected for their age. I am very proud to be able to offer this service in my community, and I look forward to working with your child.

How long does study take?

The time taken to complete a day's work may be around 30 minutes per subject. The study time is down to each individual and their current study level. Class times displayed may include a combination of in-centre and online class sessions. Please contact your Instructor for further details.

The study centre is great, really helps to solidify the foundations of both maths and English, which helped a lot later on when I did my GCSEs as my basics were well-covered. Also, Bilquees makes sure to pay attention to each student and guides and supports them accordingly. My younger sister is now attending and now is able to work ahead of her age.

The centre is amazing.Bilques is the head and she has some helpers. They are all very thoughtful about my children's studies. They are both doing well in school now and they never get bad reports.Our school teachers have said keep doing whatever they're doing.Just all-round good 👍 😉 😀. I recommend starting at early age to give them a headstart but 5 and over is fine too.

I enrolled my neice and nephew (3 & 7 years old) to improve their Maths and English after hearing good things about this tuition centre. They have both made alot of progress in 9 months, which is amazing. I can see how their confidence has shot up. I would definitely recommend Bilquees to others who are looking for abit of extra help for their children.

I am happy with the progress my children have made so far in their maths and English with Kumon and Bilquees. When my children started they didn't really like it because of the way it works but now they love it. I gave it 4stars because it's the parents who do the marking and will be great if the teachers do the marking to decrease the workload on parents.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
