Opened since 2004, Kumon Bebington Study Centre has supported hundreds of local children with the Kumon Maths and English Programmes.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider, as we encourage students to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Students currently range from pre-school to 16 years old at the Bebington Study Centre and they are supported by ten superbly trained, DBS checked assistants.

Initially, students work in the newly enrolled area receiving one-to-one attention while good study habits are developed that can then be replicated at home. Once a student has developed good study skills they progress to the independent section of class.

About the Instructor

Hi, I’m Helen, the Instructor of the Bebington Study Centre.

I came to Kumon as a concerned parent of primary-school aged twins. They were the youngest in their year at school and needed a bit of a nudge to give them increased confidence in both maths and English. I soon realised what a fantastic programme Kumon is and decided to become a Kumon Instructor in the Bebington area. Kumon has had an enormous impact on my family and I am always looking to share the same success with others.

My previous career was in buying for major retailers and so I understand the real need for confident maths and communication skills. Working with children is the most satisfying job I have had and I am very lucky to be able to instruct using such effective and rigorous programmes.

I have now been supporting the Bebington community via Kumon for many years and am very proud to be one of the first centres to launch in high street premises. We have an excellent facility with lots of sessions to choose from.

How long does study take?

The time taken to complete a day's work may be around 30 minutes per subject. The study time is down to each individual and their current study level. Class times displayed may include a combination of in-centre and online class sessions. Please contact your Instructor for further details.

We enrolled our daughter a few years ago and not looked back. She has progressed well with gaining confidence in both English and Math which Kumon is all about. Helen, Kate and the team have a positive attitude and are great with our daughter. Always ready and able to support her and never a problem when you want to discuss progress. Being Ofsted registered and able to take Childcare Vouchers is a great bonus.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
