The Kumon Bracknell Central Study Centre opened in 2019 and offers maths and English study programmes for students of all ages and abilities. We welcome students from local primary and secondary schools in Bracknell, as well as those attending schools in the surrounding area.

The unique Kumon maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. The Bracknell Central Study Centre offers a warm, friendly atmosphere where students are supported, encouraged, and praised as they grow in confidence to achieve their full potential.

Through daily worksheet study, students develop their ability and fluency. Students attend class at the centre for about 30 minutes per subject, once or twice a week. Our venue has excellent facilities, providing a comfortable and quiet environment in which students can focus on completing their work.

About the Instructor

Hello and welcome! My name is Dawn Willoughby and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Bracknell Central Study Centre.

Becoming a Kumon Instructor has given me a unique opportunity to use my knowledge and skills gained in teaching, as well as the life experiences acquired in raising three children! I am committed to working in partnership with families as we help children to reach their full potential by developing invaluable study skills and building confidence as they become independent learners.

I have worked in education for many years, having previously taught students of all ages in schools, colleges, university, and also as a home tutor. I am a qualified secondary school teacher, and hold an undergraduate degree in statistics and a masters degree in education leadership. I have published four books about education and mathematics.

I am very proud to be a Kumon Instructor and I thoroughly enjoy running the Bracknell Central Study Centre with care and commitment. I look forward to working with you to support your child’s development as they begin their Kumon journey.

How long does study take?

The time taken to complete a day's work may be around 30 minutes per subject. The study time is down to each individual and their current study level. Class times displayed may include a combination of in-centre and online class sessions. Please contact your Instructor for further details.

I am so pleased to have enrolled my daughters (ages 8 and 6) onto Kumon. Both are progressing really well in math and English. Thank you to Dawn and her team for the immense support. Dawn is truly professional and knowledgeable but what has amazed me the most is her personalised approach and care toward each child which is admirable. I must admit that, as a parent, I have also learned a lot through this experience and find myself more engaged in my children education and learning.

My son has been attending this Kumon centre for about the past 18 months and I can’t thank Dawn and her team enough. We had heard about the Kumon approach and we’re keen for our son to join to assist in some catch up and build his maths confidence. My Daughter has been doing both English and Maths since September 2022 and her confidence in reading , comprehension has really improved and numeric skill has been progressed. Dawn and her staff are very supportive and constantly provide constructive feedback for her improvement. Since my daughter started Kumon late last year, she has done so well. She has progressed in her reading and developed well in maths. The repetition has helped her significantly, Dawn and Priya have worked hard to support her level and what is required. What we found brilliant is how attentive Dawn is too, she will ensure that the right level is issued, takes every child needs into consideration and praises with a book prize after each level is completed. The whole process has been informative, thorough and we appreciate the whole Kumon team in Bracknell. We would like to say a huge thank you because our daughter has built her confidence, loves learning and is doing exceptionally well. I have never seen a child be so enthusiastic to go to Kumon and wants to go all the time! Our daughter does both Maths and English Kumon. She is progressing really well and is gaining confidence in both subjects. Her progress at school has improved as a result of all her hard work at Kumon. She spends half an hour each evening doing her Kumon work and she enjoys doing it on her iPad each day as well as weekly classes in Bracknell. We recommend Kumon to everyone!

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
