About this centre
The centre has been providing the Kumon Maths Programme since 1999 and the Kumon English Programme since 2002. The majority of students at the centre live in Abingdon or the surrounding villages and attend local schools, although a few travel from further away.
Students typically attend the centre once a week for 30-45 minutes if they are studying one subject or about an hour if they are studying both subjects. Most of the students are aged between four and 16 years old, but all ages and abilities are catered for.
Some of our student who have been with Kumon for some time are able to benefit from studying the higher levels of the programmes.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
