About our centre

Navaz Sethna has been an experienced Kumon Instructor for nearly 20 years. Both centres in Wembley and Alperton are managed by Navaz and the same staffing team. Her Wembley branch has won numerous accolades from Kumon Head Office: #1 in London and #4 in the UK and Navaz is a Kumon Elite Instructor, meaning she is amongst the top 50 for Europe.

-    Navaz’s long-term students tend to over-achieve in their school exams, including SATS, 11+ and GCSE exams
-    We are Ofsted registered, accepting tax-free childcare and childcare vouchers
-    Universal Credit discounts may apply
-    Drop-in classes are available throughout the whole week and weekends
-    Online classes available throughout the week for our busier students

The centre offers maths and English programmes to students of all ages and abilities, currently from as young as three years old. Students attend many of the local primary and secondary schools in the Wembley, Harlesden, Perivale and Neasden area.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
We are also proud of being an Ofsted registered centre, which means that parents can easily apply for significant savings of between 20-85% off our published Kumon fees via tax-free childcare amongst other schemes. For example, this could mean paying £72/subject/month, or even less in some cases.

We also offer other class days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturday mornings) at our neighbouring Wembley Central study centre

Please contact us if you would like more information on how you could make potential savings on your Kumon fees.
This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here to find out more.

About your Instructor

I have been a Kumon Instructor for almost 20 years and for the majority of that time, I have held the status of Kumon Elite Instructor at Kumon Wembley Central, meaning that I am in the top 50 Instructors across Europe.  I thoroughly enjoy seeing students excel and progress.

Many of my students, as well as my own children, attend Grammar school, thanks to their Kumon study, and therefore, I understand how important it is to create a strong foundation in Maths and English at an early age.

I regularly receive awards for nurturing students to completion of the maths and English programmes, and train my team to a high standard, so we can do our best for our students. We work with students of all abilities – some may be struggling in school, while others may need to be challenged. I find it very rewarding to work with my students to help them to achieve their full potential.

I like to keep in regular contact with parents/carers to keep them informed of their child’s progress, as I believe that they play an important role in their child’s study. Formal progress meetings take place regularly and on demand. Parents are always welcome to contact me outside of class by email or telephone to discuss their child’s progress.

I also present at Kumon conferences to fellow Kumon Instructors and I have also been a member of the Kumon Instructor Advisory Committee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
