In-Centre Class available KUMON CONNECT available Ofsted Registered Childcare vouchers accepted Online Class available

The centre has been running since 1997 and over that time, it has helped hundreds of students from in and around Basingstoke grow in confidence and ability at maths and English.

The current students at the study centre range in age from five up to 16 years old, although Kumon caters for children of all ages. The centre has different work areas for maths and English, with different tables for the different levels of work. There are assistants working on each table to support the students in their work. The majority of the assistants have studied Kumon themselves so are well aware of any concerns faced by the students.

There is a range of books at the centre that students can read to complement their worksheet study. There is also a table devoted to extra mathematical activities.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.

This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here for more details.

As an Ofsted registered centre, parents can make considerable savings through various schemes.

About the Instructor

Hello and welcome! I am pleased that you are considering Kumon to help build your child’s future. I understand that you want the best for your children, and it will be my privilege to support your family on your Kumon journey.

I am a graduate in education, and have always been passionate about working with children. Before opening my centre, I was a teaching assistant at a primary school, and volunteered with children.

Being a Kumon Instructor gives me the perfect opportunity to work with children and help develop their abilities. I will provide you with regular feedback about your child's progress and goals. This is the formula for success! By working together, we can unlock your child's potential. The biggest reward for me is to see children beginning to believe in themselves, from tackling a small maths problem or overcoming a bigger personal obstacle.

The programme is a long-term commitment, and shows results for the children whose parents are committed to work alongside their children and myself as a team. At home, you will encourage your child to go through their work on a daily basis, and provide moral support and motivation.

I look forward to working together with you towards your child’s success.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
