About our centre

Welcome to Kumon Belmont Study Centre.

For over 15 years, Kumon Belmont Study Centre has been a vital part of the community, positively shaping the futures of hundreds of children. At our centre, we inspire children of all ages and abilities to excel in maths and English, fostering not just academic growth but essential thinking skills that equip them to use their minds effectively.

At Kumon, we go beyond traditional tuition. Our unique programmes encourage children to become confident, independent learners capable of tackling unfamiliar challenges. By moving through the stages of learning – from being consciously incompetent to unconsciously competent – students sharpen their problem-solving abilities, develop a growth mindset, and gain the self-assurance to achieve their goals.

Our passionate Instructor and a dedicated team of 14 class assistants provide personalised support and guidance, helping every student thrive. Regular staff training ensures that our methods remain current, relevant, and impactful. By focusing on nurturing thinking skills, we empower students to approach learning – and life – with confidence and clarity. About your Instructor

Hello! I’m Ms. Ade, the proud Instructor at Kumon Belmont Study Centre.
It’s a privilege to contribute to the lives of our students, guiding them through their educational journeys and helping them build skills for life.

My Kumon journey began when my eldest daughters were just three and four years old. Watching them develop mental agility and self-learning skills—inferring, deducing, and making associations—was nothing short of inspiring. Kumon fostered a routine and discipline that became the foundation of their academic and personal growth. Today, my four daughters thrive as professionals in law, mechanical engineering, and medicine—testaments to Kumon’s ability to instil resilience, independent thinking, and a strong work ethic.

I was drawn to Kumon by its founder’s vision: that the best education empowers children to learn independently through an individualised programme. This philosophy shapes every student’s journey at our centre. I often remind families: it is do-able! With consistent effort and the right support, every child can build confidence, critical thinking skills, and the resilience to overcome challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
