About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available In-Centre Class available
The Kumon Bromley Study Centre offers maths and English study programmes that enable children of any age and ability to develop the key foundations for learning. We offer work sheet-lead to children from the age of three to 18 years of age; from pre-school to A-level; using a unique study method that focuses on enabling children to work independently, giving them confidence in their abilities.

Students progress through the programmes, taking small steps to gradually develop their ability and fluency before moving on to the next topic. Kumon study is not based on school curriculum or age, allowing children the flexibility to revisit and build skills where they need to and progress beyond school level where their ability allows. Unlike traditional tuition, Kumon study fosters students’ skill in self-learning, building confidence and lessening reliance on a teacher.

This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here to find out more.

About the Instructor

Bromley - Sabine Bowling
My name is Sabine Bowling, and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Bromley Study Centre. Before becoming a Kumon Instructor, I worked as a Nurse for over 13 years, where I developed many transferable skills such as empathy, compassion, patience, education, and problem solving.

After having my son, I realised I had a passion for working with children - and I have first-hand experience in seeing how children’s minds are like sponges! They have a natural curiosity and desire to learn which, if nurtured correctly, will allow them to really thrive and excel.

My passion is to help develop each student throughout their time at the Kumon Bromley Study Centre. Seeing a child’s face light up with a beaming smile because they have tackled a hard question independently, or if they have got 100% on a worksheet, is what makes me love being an Instructor. Each class day, I want my students feeling smarter and more confident in their abilities and to leave with a sense of achievement.

My role as the Instructor is to provide guidance, support, and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies. They will always be supported to reach their full potential. I will communicate with you regularly and hold progress meetings throughout the year. It is important that we work together to ensure your child is getting the appropriate support and thus develop a positive attitude towards learning.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
