About our centre
The Kumon Crewe Study Centre welcomes children of all ages and abilities. Whether your child is struggling or in need of stretching; we can help.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
The Crewe study centre serves students in the Nantwich and Crewe area in South Cheshire. To date, we have assisted students from as young as four, to students completing their A levels.
At the free assessment, the Kumon programmes are explained in more detail and your child’s current level of ability is explored. A study plan is developed that builds upon your child’s current skills, as well as developing those that will enable independent, advanced study and lifelong skills, which will support them during their school life and beyond.
Kumon does not provide tuition in the traditional sense, rather than teaching our students we empower them as individuals to develop the necessary independent learning skills to be able to tackle and overcome new work.
This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here for more details.

About your Instructor
I have 20 years experience of teaching in primary education, teaching in every year group. The last six years of my career have specialised in the teaching of reading. Being in this position has given me the insight into how children learn and how to make careful judgements based on specific needs.
Every child is different and I am passionate about discovering the potential of each individual. Kumon allows children to take hold of their own learning, work at their own pace and develop their ability to the maximum. Observing how a child’s confidence develops over time is a joy to be part of. Being there when children become aware of what they are capable of achieving is a very special moment and a privilege to watch. This is what makes it all worthwhile.
As the parent of a child who has studied Kumon, I have observed the learning from the other side too. I have seen the struggle and upset lead to success, which then allows confidence to shine through. The process of enabling and the development of self-learning is a wonderful journey, and one which I am proud to be part of.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
