The Kumon Hampstead Study Centre has been serving the local community for over 20 years. Our unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners.

The programmes are tailored to an individual’s ability, regardless of their age or academic year. Currently, our youngest student is two years old, and our oldest is a mature learner in her forties.

We aim for each and every student to reach an advanced level of study. At the same time, our students will develop valuable study skills such as concentration, perseverance, time management and a positive attitude towards learning from their mistakes; skills which will allow them to excel in all aspects of their lives.

How long does study take?

The time taken to complete a day's work may be around 30 minutes per subject. The study time is down to each individual and their current study level. Class times displayed may include a combination of in-centre and online class sessions. Please contact your Instructor for further details.

Tingli and Giles from Kumon Hampstead have saved my boy’s future. When he started he couldn’t sit down for half a minute and his math was horrible. Now after 3 years in the program he is completely transformed, he is at the top of his class in math and a very good student overall. Non of this was achievable without Kumon and the Hampstead team who care so much of their students and are so dedicated to our success. We can’t thank you enough!!

I was always very impressed by this Kumon Centre as it was always run with a range of student ages and ability. Yet their instructor and staff always managed to give the students everything they needed despite the mix of different abilities. I always enjoyed talking to everyone there and felt the care to students from everyone involved!

When I started contacting the Kumon Centre for my son around our residence, Hampstead Study Centre was the 1st one to reply. They briefly called me to discuss on the phone and invited us to the assessment test. Tingli gave us the Kumon recommended reading list on the 1st day and my son has developed his ability to think dramatically by reading the recommended books. In my neighborhood, we have several study centres near us but we stayed with the Hampstead Study Centre for Math and English Programs because Tingli and Giles are motivating and proactive.

My older son started Kumon Math and English when he had just turned 3 years old and continued until Y5. Because Tingli and Giles are very inspiring teachers we could continue. They did a home visit once in a while to discuss the progress. They understand that children are doing many activities such as chess, history competitions, maths, sports, and entrance exams. The teachers are flexible. Sometimes couldn’t visit the Study Centre but they always tried their best to ensure the boys had the study materials to keep up with their daily practice and we could cope with busy school activities. Kids enjoyed being ahead in the class and it helped for the school work and profound understanding of concepts. Now my son is in the top senior school thanks not only to Kumon’s training but also to Tingli and Giles's interacting support. My second son who is now in Y5 started Kumon at 2 years old with pencil skills and now he is doing - level J. He did well in the UKMT Math challenge ( PMC/ IMC) I believe that Kumon Maths taught him the basics and trained him to establish the core foundation.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
