The Kumon High Wycombe North Study Centre provides a supportive, welcoming environment for students of all ages and abilities to study the Kumon maths and English Study Programmes, both face to face and through online study classes.  Currently, students range in age from three to 19 years old.

The High Wycombe North study centre has an excellent reputation for:

  • Building strong foundations in maths and English for our early learners
  • Bringing out the best in all children who attend the centre
  • Supporting older students by assisting them in enhancing their skills, no matter their ability
  • Always being there for all students and parents when required.

The hard-working and dedicated team (including 3 adults) who join me at the centre with over 20 years’ combined experience assist the students through the Kumon programmes and we aim to:

  • Build each student’s foundations
  • Improve each student’s skills
  • Ensure that each student grows in confidence
  • Support each student to achieve their full potential.

Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to:

  • Take learning into their own hands (with my support and guidance)
  • Develop their own independent learning strategies (with my encouragement).

About the Instructor

Hi, my name is Pav Haer and I have been the Instructor at the High Wycombe North Study Centre since 2013.

There is no better vocation in life than guiding and nurturing our children, so they are happy and safe, whilst supporting them to achieve their potential, their dreams and in doing so enabling them to eventually add value to their society.

I have been involved with Kumon for more than 15 years. Working with the students and seeing the positive effects the Kumon Method of Learning had on them was the perfect combination for me, and this motivated me to become an Instructor myself.

I believe I have achieved the following goals due to my drive, determination and flexible approach, qualities I aim to instil in my students so they are able to succeed in all that they do:

  • First personal goal when I took over the study centre, was to become fully qualified in my first year, which I am pleased to say I achieved.
  • Second goal was to provide and run successful online sessions and I am happy to say this has been achieved along with my wonderful team.
  • Third goal was to introduce word problem and logic books to the children as part of the Kumon package that we offer here at this centre. Parents and children alike have enjoyed this addition.
  • Fourth goal was to introduce the digital app to the students, which has been received well.

I am a firm believer that we all need to work together to support the development and potential of each student, who is at our centre.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
