About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available In-Centre Class available
The Kumon Huddersfield Central Study Centre caters to children of all ages and abilities, establishing fundamental learning skills, offering them the flexibility to reinforce and enhance their knowledge as needed, and empowering them to advance beyond their school grade level.

Our maths and English study programmes focus on unlocking each child’s potential. Each child undergoes a complimentary assessment, and daily worksheet exercises allow them to enhance their skills and fluency with material. Children attend class up to twice a week, where progress is monitored and work assigned accordingly.

Kumon aims to nurture each child into a self-assured, independent and eager learner. Our classroom provides an ideal setting for the Instructor to observe and assist each child, ensuring that the student leaves the centre feeling proud of their accomplishments. Guidance from the Instructor and Classroom Assistants helps students to improve their study habits and focus, preparing them for independent study in the future.

Kumon does not offer traditional tutoring: instead of teaching students, we empower them to learn independently, fostering strategies for successful completion of new challenges and boosting their confidence in their abilities. They progress gradually, taking small steps to enhance their skills and mastery before moving on to the next topic.

About the Instructor

Huddersfield Central - Iqra Anjam
Hello, I am Iqra Anjam, the Instructor at the Kumon Huddersfield Study Centre, located in the heart of Huddersfield. Witnessing the positive impact Kumon had on a friend's child prompted me to delve deeper into what Kumon had to offer and, after learning more about the Kumon Method, lead me to establish the Kumon Huddersfield Study Centre in September 2024.

The opportunity to provide new challenges and opportunities to students and their families is truly exhilarating, and I am committed and driven in my role as an Instructor. I ensure that all my students reap the full benefits of the Kumon programmes as it is truly fulfilling to inspire children and witness their growth and see their confidence flourish with each session they attend.

My goal as a Kumon Instructor is to assist children in their learning journey, fostering independence and confidence in their abilities. I dedicate attention to each student in my class to ensure they have the most enriching learning experience possible. Being a Kumon Instructor is immensely gratifying, with my students serving as a constant source of inspiration.

Every student has the potential to progress and develop their skills through Kumon, cultivating a passion for learning along the way. If you require further information or simply wish to discuss your child's educational needs, please feel free to contact me.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
