About this centre

In-Centre Class available KUMON CONNECT available

The Huntingdon Study Centre was established over 15 years ago.  At the centre we encourage each and every child to become an independent advanced learner, with a positive attitude towards study. We support students to reach their full potential from preschool to A-Levels in maths and English.

Our class assistants are fully trained and motivated to ensure each student reaches their full potential. We have a time slotting system available with a limited number of students in class at a given time, with controlled access for entry and exit.

Students complete daily worksheets that develops their abilities and fluency gradually over time and progress is made in small steps to build confidence. Students visit the centre up to twice a week for guidance. Your child will be set work at just the right level to challenge and keep them engaged, regardless of age or school year. This means that they can strengthen their key skills or progress beyond school grade level without restriction. Kumon offers a cost-effective and convenient way to help your child build strong English and maths skills for a successful future.

About the Instructor

My name is Hariharasudhan (Hari) Bose and I’m the Instructor at the Kumon Huntingdon Study Centre.

My Kumon journey started five years ago when I enrolled my eldest son at Kumon. As a Kumon parent, I had the privilege to witness the benefits of the Kumon Method of Learning, first-hand. Through worksheet daily practice, my son has become a more confident and motivated student who is now working above his school grade level. I was impressed by Kumon’s founder's vision, foresight and principles, that the best education one could provide for a child is an individualised, independent and self-motivated study programme.

Prior to becoming a Kumon Instructor, I worked as a researcher and as a research project leader in the pharmaceutical industry. I completed my Ph.D in Pharmaceutical research, and prior to my doctorate I gained a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Dr. MGR Medical University in India. I also speak three languages and I am a certified project manager.

I relate to parents who want to give their children the best opportunities in life, and I have always been passionate about teaching and education. The curiosity and the learning potential of every child never fails to intrigue me, and I believe every child is born with infinite potential and that abilities can be nurtured. My mission is for the Kumon Huntingdon Study Centre to discover each student’s potential and develop his or her ability to the maximum. Through the Kumon Method of Learning, students have the opportunity to develop a sense of achievement and self-efficacy that will impact their performance at schools and in their daily lives.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
