About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available Online Class available In-Centre Class available

The centre provides maths and English study programmes for students of all ages and abilities. It is based at Abbey Primary School, in the heart of Belgrave, which means the school immediately provides an ideal academic environment for the children to study in.

The centre, which was established in 2009, has grown in strength each year and, more importantly, has grown with high levels of student success as they achieve their individual targets. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Staff at the centre are committed and believe in giving each child the tools they need to achieve for themselves. The youngest learner currently at the centre is three years old and the oldest learner is 16 years old, with all students supported by the friendly and experienced team.

Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

About the Instructor

Hello, my name is Bhav Manek. I have been working as the Instructor at the Leicester, Belgrave Study Centre for over ten years now.

I am always at the centre to facilitate learning for all my students by establishing a trusting relationship with each pupil and providing a positive classroom learning environment where students can develop their abilities to the maximum. I find working with students very rewarding and it was this job satisfaction that inspired me to become a Kumon Instructor.

I aim to foster the appropriate skills and abilities of each child to enable the maximum development according to their age, ability and aptitude. I pride myself in keeping up to date with changes and developments in the education sector and also attending regular Kumon meetings and training sessions so children are always being supported in the best possible manner.

Having successfully completed the Teaching Certificate in Education, I feel I have fully developed the skills to nurture students so they can become confident and highly academic individuals.

As a Kumon Instructor, my aim is always to challenge and inspire pupils to help them deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Kumon Maths and English Programmes.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
