The Kumon maths and English Study Programmes enable children of any age and ability to develop key foundations for learning. Our unique study method focuses on enabling children to work independently, giving them confidence in their abilities. They progress through small steps to gradually develop ability and fluency before moving on to the next topic.

Kumon study is not based on school curriculum or age, allowing children the flexibility to revisit and build skills where they need to and progress beyond school level where their ability allows. Unlike traditional tuition, Kumon study fosters students’ skill in self-learning, building confidence and lessening reliance on a teacher.

Your child will be assessed to enable their Instructor to set work at just the right level for them. Kumon’s aim is to develop each child into a confident, independent and enthusiastic learner.

This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here to find out more.

About the Instructor

Before I became a Kumon Instructor, I was a merchandiser working for a luxury retailer, while also raising my children. I first experienced Kumon as a parent, when my children started the programmes and I became fascinated with their progress and advancement. It’s the confidence I now have in the Kumon Method of Learning and the content of the programmes that brought me on a journey to training to become an Instructor myself.

Kumon aims to give our students the tools they need to enjoy learning and thrive academically. As their Instructor, I’ll guide your child through work that is set at just the right level for them, keeping them engaged and making progress. By studying little and often through daily worksheets and regular class sessions (online and/or in the centre), they’ll steadily increase their ability and fluency, building their skills in small, manageable steps. You can choose either the traditional paper and pencil format or digital, with KUMON CONNECT on your own tablet and stylus.

As well as a solid academic foundation, we work on building valuable study skills too, so their confidence grows as they learn focus, resilience and the ability to study independently. Kumon aims to set each child up for future success.

We work with students of all abilities – some may be struggling in school, while others may need to be challenged more than the school curriculum allows. I find it very rewarding to work with my students to help them to achieve their full potential, whilst providing them with a safe environment to challenge themselves and build their confidence and self-belief. Strong partnerships with my students and parents help us to maximise their progress on their unique learning journey.

I look forward to welcoming you soon.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
