Welcome to the Kumon Tolworth Study Centre, located within the Tolworth Recreation Centre.
Our centre offers a vibrant and welcoming space for children to learn. While your child studies, parents can enjoy the café, fit in a workout, or take a sibling to the soft play area. Free parking is available on-site for your convenience.

The Kumon Maths and English Programmes help children of all ages and abilities build strong learning foundations. Students not only improve their maths and English skills, but also develop problem-solving abilities and a strong work ethic that will prepare them for lifelong success.

Whether your child is just starting their academic journey or looking to enhance their current skills, Kumon provides a personalised learning approach that meets each student where they are. We want to ensure that children develop a love for learning that will last a lifetime so, after an initial assessment, each child follows an individualised study plan. Through daily worksheets and regular sessions at the centre, students gradually build their skills, fluency, and confidence.

Our friendly staff closely monitor your child’s progress, assigning work to keep them challenged and engaged. Our goal is to nurture confident, independent learners who can succeed academically and beyond, and we look forward to welcoming you and your family to the Kumon Tolworth Study Centre.

About the Instructor

Tolworth - Shelly Puni
Hello, I'm Shelly Puni, and I’m proud to be the Instructor at the Kumon Tolworth Study Centre.

My journey with Kumon began when I saw the remarkable impact it had on my own children, boosting their confidence and fostering a love for learning. Witnessing this transformation first-hand inspired me to become a part of the Kumon family, where I could help other children achieve similar success.

With a background in healthcare and child development, and experience as a governor at a nursery school, I understand the importance of building a solid foundation early on. Kumon provides just that – empowering students to take charge of their learning, develop resilience, and excel, not just academically but in life as well.

As an Instructor, my goal is to create an encouraging environment where your child can flourish. Whether it's mastering new concepts in maths or developing language skills and tackling challenging new material in English, each of my students receives my full commitment as they proceed along their unique learning journey. I firmly believe that, with the right guidance and perseverance, every child can reach their full potential.

I look forward to working with your child and being a part of their future success story at the Kumon Tolworth Study Centre!

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
